If you’re a fan of the Neogen Day-Light Protection Sunscreen, you probably know that there’s a newly formulated, airy version!
So what changed and what didn’t? We’ll break down everything from texture, scent, to application and finish so you know exactly what’s in stores and whether the new one lives up to its airy name!
NEOGEN Dermalogy Day-Light Protection Airy Sunscreen
Protection: SPF50+, PA+++
Category: Chemical sunscreen
The Texture
When you first squeeze it out, you’ll see that it has a lightweight, whipped, essence-like texture that still holds its form – not too thick and not too watery, just like an airy, fluffy cloud.
It’s more liquidy than the original formulation but it’s not as runny as the Paula’s Choice RESIST Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid, which starts dripping the moment you put it on your face.
Once you start working it in, it absorbs almost instantly into the skin, leaving it fresh and soft without any white cast or greasy feel.
The Highlights
- The airy, feather-light fluid sinks beautifully into the skin and leaves a silky finish without greasiness or tackiness
- On top of the chemical sunblocks, it’s also infused with 20 plant extracts to:
- Soothe, hydrate, and moisturize with damask rose, aloe vera, raspberry, avocado, purslane, yarrow, and mud mushroom
- Reduce greasiness and help control sebum with evening primrose, giant pine leaf, acai, and hibiscus

Editor’s Review
Before jumping into my final verdict, let me give you a little backstory on how I fell in love with Neogen’s original sunscreen.
Hearing Ro rave about it in countless videos and in-person and seeing how she has gone through multiple tubes of it, I decided to get my hands on it last winter.
The unique texture blew my mind because it was unlike anything else I’ve used before. It looks like a creamy moisturizer when you first squeeze it out but spreads across the face effortlessly like a luxurious water cream! On top of that, it leaves the skin hydrated and nourished, as if I’ve just put on an extra layer of moisturizer!
Although I really enjoyed the original version for its unique texture, it made my normal-to-oily skin feel a little oily, especially in my t-zone area in the summer. That’s why I was super excited when I saw that they came out with this new formulation and immediately clicked “add to cart”.
And wow, am I happy to announce that it lives up to its airy name! The super lightweight, cloud-like texture spreads smoothly and sinks beautifully into the skin! Best of all, it gives a silky finish that leaves skin perfectly hydrated and comfortable without feeling suffocated or sticky!
Our Final Verdict
Being more lightweight and hydrating, I think the Airy will definitely be suitable for most skin types – from oily, dry, combination, sensitive, dehydrated, to mature skin.
With ingredients that help with sebum production, I would especially recommend this to oily and combination skin types, or anyone living in a hot and humid environment where you sweat more and your sebaceous glands tend to produce more sebum.
However, I think people with really dry skin who prefer thicker and more nourishing formulations would probably enjoy the original version more.
