SUMMER FRIDAYS

What Is It?

Summer Fridays was started by beauty super-influencer Marianna Hewitt and her business partner, Lauren Gores. The brand caters to self-care in the form of face masks. Their products are carefully created with the idea of offering affordable, clean, and effective facials at the comfort of your home. They’ve also been designed tp simultaneously complement other skincare products.

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask

Summer Friday’s Jet Lag Mask

Why is it good?

Hewitt and Gores’ first-hand experience with jet lags during their frequent travels inspired the creation of this face mask. They noticed that constant traveling left their skin parched, dry, rough, dull, and stressed. So they aspired to create something to deeply hydrate and nourish the lost moisture from their skin. The product contains vitamins C, E, and arginine, which is a naturally occurring amino acid that plumps your skin. These ingredients help replenish the skin, giving it a smoother texture. Felicia and Rowena especially love to use the Jet Lag mask whenever their skin feels congested.

KRAVE BEAUTY

What Is It?

Krave Beauty’s motto is “Press, Reset, and Feed your skin what it craves”. Contrary to popular belief, they don’t think extensive, multi-step skin care products are a necessity to maintaining your skin’s health. Instead, the brand crafts products essential to your skin, all while preventing further skin damage and restoring its natural glow.

Why is it good?

Not only are they products created with all natural ingredients, but they are very gentle on the skin. The Matcha Hemp Cleanser even works for sensitive skin while The Beet Shield has a SPF of 50+++ and is rich in antioxidants to help fight off free radicals. Both Felicia and Rowena loovee Krave Beauty products since they’re super gentle on the skin and work great for both oily-combination and dry-sensitive skin types.

THAYERS

What Is It?

Henry Thayers first started the brand in 1847. He created a line of herbal extracts and elixirs with Witch Hazel as a core ingredient. Witch Hazel is a plant that contains tannins, which are natural occurring substances from the bark and skin of plants. Tannins, known to have antioxidant properties, helps to balance the skin’s pH and reduce irritation. Thayers is particularly known for their witch hazel astringents, which not only help reduce excess sebum for oily skin but is also considered a great acne remedy.

Why is it good?

Thayers is alcohol-free, which makes a great toner and astringent for those with congested skin. With Witch Hazel as the key ingredient, the toners and astringents from this line help to soothe inflammation and control excess oils on the skin. Felicia finds the Thayers products to be decent for her oil skin…after she learned (the hard way) to apply the toner using a soaked cotton pad.

DRUNK ELEPHANT

What Is It?

Drunk Elephant is a simple and clean line with Marula oil used as a key ingredient. The Marula oil is harvested from Africa’s Marula fruit from Africa, which also comes from the same family as mangoes. Fun fact: there’s a myth in Africa that talks about elephants getting drunk from eating fermented Marula fruit off the ground…sounds familiar?

Why is it good?

While many products of this line are worth using, the Beste No.9 Jelly cleanser is recommended for deep cleansing the face without being harsh and stripping your skin of its natural oils. It has a jelly texture that froths slightly when mixed with water, and leaves your face feeling super clean. For Fel, this cleanser is incredibly gentle for her skin and she loves the fact that it deep cleanses without making her face feel dry.

The T.L.C Framboos Glycolic Night Serum is highly recommended by Rowena and Felicia for those who are just getting into chemical exfoliants. As per written on the packaging, this product contains a blend of AHA and BHA acids such as glycolic, lactic, tartaric, citric, and salicylic acid to help decongest your skin and encourage the resurfacing of new skin cells by removing the layer of dead skin cells away.

GLOW RECIPE
