This year, affordable and effective skincare brands were consistent and buzzworthy. But sometimes, there’s nothing wrong with spending extra for yourself! If you’re curious to know what are the best bougie skincare products, here’s a detailed list to of my personal favorite and pricey but worth-it goodies.
Tata Harper: Regenerating Cleanser
There are plenty of affordable and effective cleansers, so I never considered investing in a luxury product (especially a cleanser). But this Regenerating Cleanser from Tata Harper has me sold! This cleanser is also an exfoliating treatment that helps to buff the skin and helps even out the skin tone. The brand recommends you use this on dry skin and massage it to activate the formula. Then, you can rinse it off with warm water! I enjoy using this because the results never disappoint! The product contains exfoliating ingredients like apricot and willow bark extract for the best, healthy-looking skin! As someone with sensitive and acne-prone skin, I like to use this product once a week. That way, I can save the product and not feel too terrible spending so much money on a cleanser!
Quick Tip: A little goes a long way! One entire pump, and that’s it! Bring the cleanser down to your neck for some extra neck care.
Allies of Skin: Molecular Saviour Probiotics Treatment Mist
It’s getting cold here on the East Coast, and I was looking for a mist to replace my toner and help add hydration to my skin throughout the day. The Allies of Skin treatment mist is a new holy grail that I fell in love with as soon as I tried it! The product uses 5% niacinamide, 1.5% lactobacillus ferment, and a few more hydrating and brightening ingredients. The formula of the treatment mist refreshes the skin and soothes it, making it the perfect product for protecting your skin from environmental stressors. The niacinamide and probiotics are also great ingredients for a calm and healed skin barrier, and I can notice my redness reducing immediately upon application! Best of all, it doesn’t leave my skin too oily!
SkinCeuticals: C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid
One of the most expensive serums that I have purchased and will continue to repurchase is this one from SkinCeuticals! This serum uses 15% pure Vitamin C, which helps protect the skin from sun damage and brightens the skin’s complexion. The product also contains 1% Vitamin E to prevent inflammatory damage on the skin. The 0.5% Ferulic Acid then complements the benefits of Vitamins C and E, making this the perfect daytime serum to use under your sunscreen! When using this serum, I notice my skin looking brighter, giving it an almost well-rested effect after long-term use. I love how lightweight this is; it sinks into the skin quickly! One thing to note is that high concentrations of Vitamin C aren’t for everyone and may require patch testing. If the percentage is too high, you can always try other Vitamin C products with lower concentrations or Vitamin C alternatives.
Allies of Skin: Peptides & Antioxidants Firming Daily Treatment
The name might be confusing, but this is a moisturizer! This moisturizer has peptides, brighteners, antioxidants, and a 3% teprenone complex that all work together to hydrate, firm, and brighten the skin. It’s also fast absorbing, lightweight, and provides the perfect hydration for daily use. I love this because the texture is almost like a gel. After using this for a few weeks, my skin feels very soft and looks and feels more hydrated. I even notice less texture on my face! I also like that I can pair this with any active ingredient I want to use that day. For example, my favorite combination is using this in the morning with a Vitamin C serum and a dewy sunscreen!
Quick Tip: The texture is quite lightweight, especially for dry skin. If you find this to be the case, you can mix in a few drops of your favorite face oil before application!
Sisley: Black Rose Precious Face Oil
The Sisley face oil is one of my skincare collection’s most expensive products! It uses plum oil, camelina oil, black rose extract, and many more soothing oils. It also contains essential oils, but I have not noticed any adverse reactions. I love that it does not feel too oily on the skin; instead, it feels quite silky and dry to the touch. You can use it morning or night, with a moisturizer or without. Since this product also caters to aging skin types, it can help maintain a youthful look while nourishing the skin. My mom and I love this, proving that this facial oil is great for all ages!
Dr. Loretta: Urban Antioxidant Sunscreen SPF 40
Because I have super sensitive skin, I usually turn to mineral sunscreens to minimize breakouts and aggravation. But, surprisingly, this hybrid SPF from Dr. Loretta works well for my skin! The texture of this sunscreen is lightweight and doesn’t feel greasy on the skin. I also love using this under my makeup because it doesn’t pill! The sunscreen uses Indian ginseng, peptides, and antioxidants that all help to nourish and hydrate the skin while protecting it from the sun. I love that it is slightly tinted, so there is no white cast! It makes my skin look so glowy; one of the best SPFs I have used recently!
Chantecaille: Bio Lifting Mask+
I like to follow a slow aging routine by using a hydrating face mask at least twice a week, and the Chantecaille face mask is a longtime favorite that checks all the boxes. This product uses various hydrating and soothing ingredients, which is excellent for those with dry to normal skin! The consistency reminds me of a moisturizer since it’s not too thick and has almost a lotion-like consistency. This mask is said to help smooth signs of aging and help the skin feel firmer. Indeed, I can see how noticeably plump and glowy my skin looks and feels the next day!
Quick Tip: You can use this as a wash-off mask, or as an overnight treatment at least once or twice a week (my favorite way)!
