Raise your hand if you are a fan of Starbucks’ seasonal pumpkin drinks! Turns out it’s not hard to make at home at all. All you need are a pot, a milk frother, simple ingredients, and 10 minutes to prepare. Whether you prefer a cozy hot coffee, a refreshing cold brew, or a healthier alternative, we have different options for you!

PS: For a caffeine-free option, simply replace coffee with the herbal alternative dandy blend. It is made with extracts of barley, rye, dandelion, and chicory while smelling and tasting exactly like coffee!

1. Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp pumpkin purée
  • 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice, plus more for sprinkling
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1-2 shots espresso or coffee of your choice
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or sweetener of your choice
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Whipped cream

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan add the pumpkin and spices. Cook over medium heat while stirring constantly, for about 2 minutes.
  2. Add the sugar and stir until the mixture looks like a bubbly, thick syrup.
  3. Mix the milk with vanilla extract. Slowly heat it over medium-low heat, without bringing it to a boil.
  4. Froth the milk with a frother or blender until frothy and well-blended.
  5. Make the espresso or coffee of your choice.
  6. Add the frothed milk and pumpkin mixture.
  7. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, or nutmeg if desired.

2. Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew

Ingredients

  • ½ tsp pumpkin puree
  • ¼ pumpkin pie spice, plus more for sprinkling
  • 1 ½ cups cold brew or any iced coffee of your choice
  • ¼ cup milk of your choice
  • Maple syrup or sweetener of your choice
  • Vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Make your iced coffee. 
  2. Stir in your desired amount of maple syrup, vanilla extract, or any sweetener of your choice until combined.
  3. To make the pumpkin foam, combine the cold milk, maple syrup, pumpkin purée, vanilla, pumpkin spice, and salt in a container.
  4. Use a milk frother to froth the mixture until it reaches a tight, smooth, whipped cream-like foam consistency. 
  5. To assemble the drink, fill a serving glass with ice and pour the iced coffee over the ice.
  6. Spoon however much pumpkin foam you would like on top
  7. Sprinkle with a pinch of extra pumpkin pie spice or ground cinnamon.
  8. Serve and enjoy!

3. Pumpkin Spice Oat Milk

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup canned pumpkin puree 
  • 1 cup and a half oat milk (or other dairy alternatives) 
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 3-4 dates
  • 4 crushed cardamom pods 
  • All-spice powder (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Heat pot over medium heat and pour in the oat milk.
  2. Let the milk heat gently until just warmed (but not simmering).
  3. When the oat milk warmed, add in the pumpkin puree and stir until well incorporated into the milk.
  4. Once incorporated add in your dates and your cinnamon sticks and continue to stir.
  5. Add in the crushed cardamom pods into the milk mixture.
  6. Continue to stir until the milk smells fragrant.
  7. Let sit and simmer gently for 10 minutes.
  8. Take the pot off the flame and strain the milk into a bowl using a strainer.
  9. Be sure to gently shake the strainer to release all the trapped flavors.
  10. Pour the strained milk into mugs and top with a sprinkle of all-spice powder.
