Lemon Basil Spritzer Recipe

This refreshing and simple drink is perfect for celebrating these last few days of summer (and especially for National Lemon Juice Day!). A fizzy take on lemonade, this spritzer pairs well with basil for a crisp taste you’ll enjoy wherever you are!

Ingredients

  • 3 leaves fresh basil
  • 2 lemon wedges
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of simple syrup, honey, or alternative liquid sweetener
  • 3/4 cup of sparkling water
  • Ice cubes
  • Basil leaves or lemon wedges for garnish

Directions

  1. Place basil leaves and 2 lemon wedges to the bottom of the glass and muddle to release the flavors. If you don’t have a muddler, you can use the back of a wooden spoon or muddle with a mortar and pestle (make sure you transfer the ingredients into the glass cup afterwards!)
  2. Add the lemon juice and simple syrup/honey/liquid sweetener and muddle some more.
  3. Fill the glass with ice cubes and pour sparkling water into the glass.
  4. Garnish with additional basil leaves and lemon wedges if desired.
