Like how we dress differently for each season, our skincare routine should reflect the changes for each season. When the weather is hot and humid, you’re going to notice increased oil production, a shiny and greasy face, more breakouts, and clogged pores. That means the thicker creams you once used to help your skin during the colder months will no longer help during the hotter months. Felicia has found the perfect skincare routine for oily skin that works for her, scroll down to find out what it is.

1. Cleansing

Garnier Micellar Water

Instead of washing the face with harsh cleansers, you can try using micellar water in the morning. What Felicia has been doing lately is sweeping a soaked cotton pad across her face instead of washing her face with a cleanser. She’s been loving the Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water, which is alcohol-free, fragrance-free, oil-free and also very affordable! It removes makeup, cleanses and refreshes the skin all at once and make your skin feel clean and hydrated without stripping or leaving a greasy feeling.

So how does micellar water work? Micellar water contains essential ingredients called surfactants. They’re useful molecules with a hydrophilic head that’s water-attracting, and a lipophilic tail that’s oil-attracting. So they just pull out all the dirt and debris like a magnet and cluster up into tiny balls called micelles. After rinsing, you’ll be left with a clean and clear face.

Versed Cleansing Balm

Felicia has also been loving the Versed Cleansing Balm as part of her skincare routine for oily skin. It has eucalyptus oil, vitamin E and jojoba oil. It’s affordable, natural and without any questionable chemicals or ingredients. Not only does it do a good job at melting off makeup, but it has a great texture. When you massage the cleansing balm into your skin, the texture feels lightweight and jelly-like, which is great for summer! So we highly recommend this if you like using cleansing balms but don’t want that heavy feeling most of them create.

2. Toner/ Essence

Dr. Wu Clarifying Toner with BHA

Can you believe this? It’s got 17 key ingredients in this toner. What an intense concoction of ingredients! These include tea tree, mandelic acid, zinc lactate, niacinamide, panthenol, and salicylic acid. These ingredients help to control your oils, manage sebum production in your pores, and calm and soothe breakouts.

Not convinced? After using this toner consistently for a few weeks, Felicia notes seeing some major improvements of her skin. Some improvements include a brighter looking complexion, even skin tone and texture, and no breakouts for three weeks!

Bondi Chic Four Seasons Essence

For those of you who really want to up your hydration game, we recommend you incorporate an essence as a second step between your toner and serum.

This Bondi Chic Four Seasons Essence contains caviar, sugar-free lemon enzyme, kakadu plum, centella asiatica, sodium hyaluronate, and plum extract with niacinamide. They even use the natural spring water from the Blue Mountains, straight from Australia!

If you’re looking for pore refining, brightening but also really soothing products with all-natural ingredients, we strongly recommend you try this.

Uruoi Skin Lotion

Founded based on the term for “moisture, blessing and fulfillment” in Japanese, Uruoi is passionate about how water transforms the skin. We vibe with that idea because skincare really is all about maintaining hydration.

This hyaluronic acid is great for any skin type. It’s lightweight but has a slightly thicker consistency which creates a kind of goopy effect. But don’t let this texture throw you off. Hyaluronic acid is a miracle ingredient that does wonders in restoring and maintaining hydration in your skin. Likewise, this product is a great toner essence that can quench even the most dehydrated skin.

3. Serum

Dr. Wu Intensive Renewal Serum with 18% Mandelic Acid

If you’re looking for a serum that can exfoliate dry flakes and patches without irritating and leave your skin glowing, this product is great for you! Inside this little bottle of magic contains 18% highly purified mandelic acid.

Mandelic acid is extracted from bitter almonds and is a mild and multifunctional AHA with a high molecular weight. This means that you’re less likely to experience irritation while shedding off the extra layer of dead skin cells that would otherwise lead to clogged pores. It also has sodium hyaluronate, which is a derivative of hyaluronic acid and helps to moisturize the skin.

4. Moisturizer

Bondi Chic Four Seasons REJUVEN8 Cream

This Bondi Chic Four Seasons REJUVEN8 Cream is an all-round great day moisturizer. Its highlight lies in the 8 key ingredients. The caviar is for anti-aging and firming, while hyaluronic acid helps to moisturize the skin. It also contains ginseng root for repairing and rejuvenating, moringa for soothing and promoting elasticity, niacinamide for whitening, and kakadu plum for toning your skin.

Ren ClearCalm 3 Replenishing Gel Cream

At night, Felicia prefers to use something extra soothing. The texture of this Ren ClearCalm 3 Replenishing Gel Cream is interesting because it appears grainy upon first glance but the texture itself feels very soft and creamy. It has natural bioactive ingredients like Lingonberry seed oil, which is an omega-6 that helps to replenish the skin. There’s also seaweed extract which is moisture-binding, and licorice which is good for inflammation and hyperpigmentation.

Obagi Retinol 0.5 Retexturizing Cream

Every two or three days, Felicia likes to use the Obagi Retexturizing Cream with 0.5% retinol. As many of you might know, one of the common side effects of retinol is its drying and irritating nature. Luckily this moisturizer contains soothing elements that nourish the skin, while the retinol helps improve texture, skin tone, and signs of aging without irritating.

5. Mask

Body Shop Mediterranean Almond Milk with Oats Instant Soothing Mask

Oat is a soothing ingredient known for reducing inflammation, itching, and redness. Felicia found this when she was looking specifically for oat when she had a rash on her face. After using this mask for several nights, Felicia noted how her rash completely went away, like magic! It has a porridge-like consistency and smells like oat and almond milk. If it’s not meant for your face, you could easily think of this as food. Don’t eat it, though!
