So sit back, relax, and get ready to discover popular brands to help clear your hyperpigmentation.
Fenty Skin
Fenty Skin is a skincare brand founded by Rihanna that focuses on creating clean and effective products. Because of Rihanna’s passion and love for skincare and beauty, Fenty Skin emphasizes using vegan and cruelty-free ingredients and is known for its simple yet effective formulations. The brand offers a variety of skincare products, including cleansers, moisturizers, toners, and serums, all aimed at helping people achieve their best skin. Since the brand’s approach to skincare emphasizes simplicity, I can appreciate seeing Fenty Skin’s products designed to easily integrate into any skincare routine. I also love using their essential products of cleanser, toner serum, and moisturizer with SPF. These three products help you achieve glass-like skin and are perfect for a fast morning routine. This brand is great for those new to skincare or those looking for an easy yet effective routine targeting hyperpigmentation and dryness.
Topicals
Topicals is a skincare brand that uses plant-based ingredients to create effective products for treating every skin condition and concern. The brand’s philosophy is based on the idea that less is more and emphasizes using nourishing oils, vitamins, and antioxidants to help improve the appearance of the skin. I love that their products are free from harsh chemicals, artificial fragrances, and preservatives, making them a great choice for sensitive skin. They also offer a variety of skincare products for every step, including serums, moisturizers, salves, and more! I absolutely love that this brand aims to help users achieve healthy, radiant skin for their face and body!
Their most popular product is the Faded Serum, a serum formulated with tranexamic acid, niacinamide, and azelaic acid. The product helps minimize your hyperpigmentation and post-blemish marks. Other than that, their product lineup is very simple but unique. They offer eye masks and body products, which have wonderful benefits to help fade dark spots.
Shani Darden Skin Care
Shani Darden Skin Care is a luxury skincare brand founded by celebrity esthetician Shani Darden. The brand uses high-quality, medically-proven ingredients to address various skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation for all skin types.
I especially love their retinol serum and their cleansing serum! Their retinol serum contains retinol, a form of vitamin A exfoliates the skin and increases cell turnover. Retinol is a great ingredient for addressing many concerns, especially addressing hyperpigmentation and improving the overall texture and brightness of the skin. I also fell in love with Shani Darden’s cleansing serum at first wash. I love that this product combines a gentle cleanser and a serum in one. It removes dirt, oil, and impurities without stripping skin of its natural oils. At the same time, it contains hyaluronic acid to lock in moisture and leave the skin plump and healthy! As for hyperpigmentation, I love that this product includes vitamin C and alpha-arbutin to even out the skin tone and reduces the appearance of dark spots.
Hyper Skin
Hyper Skin is a skincare brand that focuses on creating products to help target acne and dark spots for all skin tones. The brand was founded to provide products that effectively address common skin concerns such as hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and uneven skin tone.
There’s a lot of great products but I can especially appreciate cult-favorite Brightening Dark Spot Vitamin C Serum! Not only does it use a high concentration of vitamin C, to brighten the skin and fade hyperpigmentation, but it also contains kojic acid and barberry extract. All of which are skin-lightening ingredients that can help prevent the development of new dark spots. Another product that has helped me and my acne spots is their Even Fade And Glow AHA Mask. This mask contains a blend of glycolic and mandelic acids, which exfoliate the skin and increase cell turnover. By removing dead skin cells, the chemical exfoliants can help reduce hyperpigmentation and improve the overall texture and brightness of the skin.
Black Girl Sunscreen
Black Girl Sunscreen is a skincare brand that focuses on creating sun protection products for people with darker skin tones. According to Founder Shontay Lundy, there’s a widespread belief that sunscreen isn’t needed for dark skin tones because they naturally have high melanin levels in their skin. While it’s true that high melanin levels can help offer some UV protection, it cannot completely protect skin against UV damage. Couple this with the unpleasant experiences of applying sunscreen (white cast and residue, anyone?) and you’ve got a recipe for hyperpigmentation, sun damage, and in worse cases, late detection of skin cancer.
With this in mind, I love that this brand creates sunscreens that can work well with all skin types, including sensitive skin! I can appreciate their lightweight, non-greasy sunscreens that are easy to apply and blend seamlessly into the skin. Best of all, users can enjoy not seeing a white cast or residue!
