If you’re looking to expand your K-beauty collection this summer, here are some brands we love!

Sioris (Simple + Original)

What is it: This is a brand that takes ingredient quality into consideration. Their philosophy is about creating skincare products that are safe, fresh, eco-friendly and sustainable. They take great care in using ingredients found in nature as well as synthetic ingredients that work for both the face and the environment.

Why we love it: This is a brand that led Ro to discover her love for facial mist. For her dry and dehydrated skin, the Sioris facial mist’s blend of skin nourishing oils was enough to make her skin super happy.

Other tidbits: Their signature yuja fruit or plum fruit water is featured as the base in many products. If you have sensitive skin, take note that some of their products have essential oils.

Lagom (Not too little, not too much)

What is it: To sum up this Korean skincare brand in one word, it’s “balanced.” Lagom is all about balancing hydration by targeting the skin at a cellular level. This way, the products aim to deliver moisture to the skin instead of leaving it on the surface. How does it work? They use a trademark ingredient called Aqualicia (sounds like Aqua Felicia!) that works by retaining moisture in the skin.

Why we love it: If you’re someone who constantly blot oil off your face or use every hydrating serum in existence to moisturize, this could be the brand for you. Rowena particularly loves the gel to water cleanser and how it leaves her skin feeling hydrated without stripping her face.

Other tidbits: All of their products contain a blend of essential oils to give a light floral scent. If you’re sensitive to fragrances or essential oils, this one might be something to steer away from.

Haruharu Wonder (Everyday)

What is it: This clean Korean skincare brand incorporates plant-based ingredients like honey green tea, maqui berry, and black rice. Haruharu is Korean for “everyday” and they’re all for enhancing your skincare experience.

Why we love it:  We love fermented ingredients, especially fermented rice, which is a well-known beauty secret in the Asian world for youthful-looking skin and this brand surely delivers! Felicia especially loves the black rice hyaluronic toner to control excess sebum production for her oily skin. According to her, it’s a great lightweight toner that sinks quickly into the skin. Plus, the packaging is too cute!

Other tidbits: In many products, there’s lavender oil and alcohol listed as the last two ingredients. If you’re sensitive to fragrances or essential oils, this one might be something to steer away from.

Pyunkang Yul (For holistic skincare)

What is it: For a “traditional meets modern” approach, this brand presents a holistic take on skincare. Pyunkang Yul believes that the way to approach skincare is to keep your skin type, body, and environment in mind. It starts with gentle products that restore hydration and are safe for all skin types.

Why we love it: This brand merges traditional-based remedies with modern innovations and we’re living for it! Fel discovered her love for Pyunkang Yul after trying the Essence Toner to hydrate her skin. And for Ro, the Ato Cream Blue Label is perfect for her dry and dehydrated skin type!

Other tidbits: All of their products are fragrance, dye, and irritant-free.

Neogen (Science meets innovation)

What is it: Neogen is a brand that believes in combining up-to-date dermaceutical research to suit your skin’s needs. With many different lines, you won’t have a difficult time looking to mix and match for a personalized routine to suit your needs.

Why we love it: Fel and Ro love how innovative the products are, especially when it comes to formulation and packaging. For this K-beauty brand, Fel absolutely loves how the white truffle serum leaves her skin glowing, while Ro enjoys the Day-light protection sunscreen for needed UV protection.

Other tidbits: There might be fragrance and essential oils listed on some of the products. But there are a few products in the line that are fragrance-free. If you’re sensitive to fragrances or essential oils, this one might be something to steer away from.

Illiyoon (Soothing skin & healing skin barriers)

What is it:  If you’re into mild but effective skincare with hydration as the key focus, this brand is worth considering! Illiyoon is a k-beauty company under Amorepacific that works by restoring skin barriers by combining ceramides with Korean medicinal ingredients.

Why we love it: Rowena loves how this brand caters to all skin types (especially dry) at an affordable price. Since she has dry and dehydrated skin, Rowena absolutely loves every product down the line for nourishing, hydration, and moisturizing.

Other tidbits: This brand has both unscented or mildly scented products.
