Eating healthy is hard, but it doesn’t have to! Luckily, we have this super amazing recipe from Baalm CEO Mandi Nyambi to show us that eating healthy is simple, fun, and delicious! For today’s healthy drink recipe, Mandi presents what she fondly names as: Baalm Milk. Because it’s the BOMB and will completely blow your minds.

This easy recipe is a pumpkin based milk that’s not only amazing for soothing and calming your body, but it also contains essential nutrients for glowing skin. It’s a perfect drink to make in bulk and drink in place of your coffee in the mornings. Plus, because there are no added sugars.

The Star Ingredients

Pumpkin

Pumpkin is high in vitamins A&C, potassium, and fiber which can benefit gut health. The enzymes in pumpkin is also great for gently exfoliating the skin. So while it’s great to eat, it’s also great to slather onto your face for a brightening mask!

Oat Milk

Oat milk is a dairy-free beverage with a consistency that’s the closest to whole milk. It’s enriched with essential nutrients including calcium, potassium, iron and vitamins A & D.

Dates

This is the star sweetener for bringing that sweet, sweet flavor (pun intended). But other benefits of dates is the rich fiber content that gets your bowels moving. It’s a win-win! 

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup Canned pumpkin puree 
  • 1 cup and a half Oat milk (or other dairy alternatives) 
  • 3 Cinnamon sticks
  • 3-4 Dates
  • 4 crushed cardamom pods 
  • All-spice powder (for topping)

Directions

  1. Heat pot over medium heat and pour in the oat milk
  2. Let the milk heat gently until just warmed (but not simmering)
  3. When the oat milk warmed, add in the pumpkin puree and stir until well incorporated into the milk
  4. Once incorporated add in your dates and your cinnamon sticks and continue to stir
  5. Add in the crushed cardamom pods into the milk mixture
  6. Continue to stir until the milk smells fragrant.
  7. Let sit and simmer gently for 10 minutes
  8. Take the pot off the flame and strain the milk into a bowl using a strainer 
  9. Be sure to gently shake the strainer to release all the trapped flavors.
  10. Pour the strained milk into mugs and top with a sprinkle of all-spice powder.
