It’s been quite the journey at Beauty Within! Over the years, we’ve learned a lot about the beauty industry and what it means to us. And we may possibly learn even more as we grow. Here are some of the best skincare tips and facts for you beauties so that you can ride along with us!

#1: Keep Hydrated

Skincare 101: Hydration is key! Whether you have oily or dry skin, maintaining that hydration is the first step to preventing all sorts of concerns. Quenching your skin’s thirst can help fight against acne, milia, plus any type of inflammation you may have. Also, a hydrated skin barrier equals better protection and youthful plump. Remember, everything is connected!

Most products center around ingredients that either boost hydration or trap it in the skin. For instance, many brands include hyaluronic acid or extracts that are high in water content. To sum it all up, water is the foundation. And the best skincare cure!

#2: You Do You

Skincare is very complex, and it’s okay to be confused. When we started Beauty Within, we didn’t have as much knowledge as we do now. Everything we learned about the topic and our own skin was due to years of research and experimentation.

At the end of the day, everyone’s experience with skincare is different and unique. Keep in mind that this isn’t a “one size fits all” type of situation. You might tackle this differently because only you know what works well and how much is too much. When picking out products and building a routine, cater to your own individual needs and wants. As always, you can figure it out along the way.

#3: Clean Beauty Is Subjective

Clean beauty is a touchy subject. Some consumers live by this and others find it misleading due to the self-regulated industry. So, what does “clean beauty” actually mean?

Remember, skincare is personal. Our stance and how we define the term depend on our values and beliefs. The same goes for the brands. Don’t expect them to cater to everyone’s needs 100% of the time because they also have their own values. We should all live according to what we care about without that pressure for perfection. Know that skincare and “clean beauty” are subjective. Then, we can start to show more compassion and understanding.

#4: Look Beyond the Trends

If you notice, skincare and beauty trends are everywhere! Most marketers even determine their products based off of the buzz. BUT, is that all?

It’s our job to keep up with the industry. That being said, we should also appreciate the special few. In other words, we should look into those brands that don’t buy into what’s trending. They change things up by coming up with new ideas and ingredients that we might not see often. And that’s what makes them so special!
